718 Kilograms of Cocaine Found on Vessel in Golfito Costa Rica

The Costa Rican Coast Guard Service with the assistance of Air Surveillance intercepted a boat in the area of Playa Tamales, Golfito, carrying a total of 718 packets of cocaine one kilogram each.

The boat of named Tiburón originated from Ecuador, two natives of this country of last names Avilés and González were arrested.

A total of 5 jerrycans with fuel were also found aboard the boat.

In this same area, another small boat was also intercepted carrying 6 jerrycans with fuel. A Costa Rican man of last name Granados was detained.

This is the result of joint operations in which we are able to successfully intercept an important quantity of drugs and prevent its entry to national territory. We are satisfied with the effective work of the Coast Guard Service and the Public Police Force“, commented Minister of Security, Michael Soto, who emphasized that one of the priorities of the Ministry is the battle of drug trafficking.
