Over the past couple of decades, Costa Rica has seen an explosion in the number of its citizens who have taken up the sport of surfing. Blessed with coastlines on two bodies of water that feature some of the best waves in the world, the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean, it’s no surprise that so many have taken to dancing on the sea. It’s not just the boys either. Much like the rest of the world, women of all ages are making up a larger percentage of the surfing population than in years past.

This charge by female surfing in Costa Rica is being led by a handful of extremely talented women, and Witch’s Rock Surf Camp recently had the chance to interview 5 of the best female surfers Costa Rica has to offer.

The following is part-1 of a 5-part series where we get to meet the top 5 female surfers in Costa Rica. These women charge and are the faces of surfing’s future here in the land of Pura Vida. Each has a different story to tell, so please enjoy.
