A heartbreaking communication from the Ministry of Public Security (Spanish initials: MSP) indicates that the lifeless body of an 11-year old boy, who had been missing along with his sister in Costa Rica, was found in the bottom of a ravine in the rural canton of Upala, not far from the northern border with Nicaragua.

The body of young Alexander Scott was found about 100 meters away from the spot where female rescuers from the Red Cross and Fuerza Publica, the national police force of Costa Rica, found his 9-year old sister, who had been sexually assaulted and beaten. The little girl, whose name is Teresita, is being treated for hypothermia.

The young siblings were reported missing earlier today; they were walking to school when they were last seen. Police officers have arrested a 19-year old man in connection with this abominable incident. Preliminary reports indicate that little Alexander Scott may have been protecting his little sister when he was killed by their assailant.

In light of profound indignation expressed by several communities across Costa Rica, the identities of the suspect and his family are being withheld for the time being, and MSP spokespersons are calling for patience as this matter is being investigated.

The children lived less than a kilometer away from their school in a rural area where this kind of crime has never before been experienced.
