Costa Rican boxer Yokasta Valle, took the first loss of her career against Japanese Naoko Fujioka this December 1st in Japan.

The fight, which took place at the Korakuen Hall on Friday at 6 a.m. Costa Rica time (evening in Japan), had the vacant WBO World Female Jr. Flyweight belt on the line, both fighters engaged in an entertaining battle that went to the distance (10 Rounds) and was decided by the judges’ scorecards: 99-91, 98-92, 96-94 a unanimous decision in favor of the 42-year old Japanese that with this one adds a fifth world title to her professional career.

Valle started out well and battled during the 10 rounds, however, the experience of Fujioka made the difference in the fight; she received a minor cut over her left eyebrow during the action in the early rounds which was handled properly by her corner.

“I wasn’t able to do what I wanted to do, the headbutts affected me, it was an important fight for me and I felt the support of everyone all the way here in Tokyo. I will continue training hard, I faced a good fighter”, stated the Costa Rican after the fight in an interview with Lazaro Malvarez.
