Four underage females of ages ranging between 16 and 17 were detained in Costa Rica as suspects of recruiting other two teenagers to have sex for money.

According to the information gathered by the Public Ministry, the two minors that acted as pimps would receive between ¢75,000 and ¢175,000.(US$134.00 and $312.50) depending on whether the girl recruited was or not a virgin.

The young ladies that agreed to have sexual relations with the man were receiving a similar amount of money.

Two men of last names Artavia and Calderon were also detained, suspects of sexual exploitation of minors, while a third man of last name Duarte was in charge of driving the teenagers to the place where the encounters took place.
The police raids took place in three areas: Desamparados, Tejar del Guarco and Hatillo; the police believes there are other victims involved.

“We had confidential information of a network that was recruiting teenagers of different high schools in the neighborhoods to the south of San Jose with the objective of prostituting them. At this moment we have two victims that filed their report to the Organism of Judicial Investigation”, explained prosecutor Javier Valerio.

The authorities called out other possible victims to file a report with the police.
