The dangerous criminal that the Costa Rican authorities were after and whose information was released just two days ago to the public, was found dead in Bajo Los Ledezma in La Uruca; the information was confirmed this Saturday morning by the Ministry of Security, pending the autopsy results.

Irving Guido Toruño (A.K.A. Erwing Guido Toruño) of Nicaraguan origin and nicknamed “El Gringo” was the leader of a drug trafficking gang and suspect of at least ten murders, including the two victims whose bodies were found on Wednesday in a van in La Sabana, San Jose.

The body of “El Gringo” was found face down and with multiple cuts on his body and face, it was through the tattoos that the police was able to identify him; however, the verification of the identity of the man will have to wait until the autopsy is done.

According to information released by the police, the Red Cross received a call at 00:19 a.m. apparently from drivers that saw the bloody man’s body, when the ambulance arrived they confirmed he was dead.

Toruño has been connected by the police with Luis Angel Martinez Fajardo, a drug dealer known as “El Pollo” and who is incarcerated since 2015 in Nicaragua. It seems that Toruño, who used to work for “El Pollo” at some point had a disagreement with him and the two parted ways, “El Gringo” took advantage of the fact that his former partner was arrested to strengthen his own operation. It is known that “El Pollo” has continued giving orders from jail. The dispute for territories is what has triggered a number of violent crimes in the past few months.

Also, on Friday evening five people were killed in different shoot outs, one took place in Coronado where two men and a woman were killed; the second incident was reported in Los Sitios de Moravia where two men were shot while driving in the area by men in a motorcycle. The circumstances of each of these homicides are currently under investigation.
