The Ministry of Environment and Energy in Costa Rica (MINAE) is carrying out the campaign “Limpia tu Huella” (Clean your Footprint), on Saturday, February 24 and are requesting the help of volunteers that wish to participate on the cleaning of National Wildlife Refuge Camaronal located in the North Pacific of Costa Rica, seven miles south of Playa Samara.

The contamination of the oceans is affecting the marine species, among them sea turtles; Camaronal Refuge focuses on the conservation of sea turtles and the protection of forest ecosystems and natural regeneration areas, it is actually the nesting site for four out of the seven sea turtle special that exist in the world, the leatherback turtle, Olive Ridley, hawksbill and black sea turtle.

Since the Ora river mouth is in this area and the mangrove is close by, Camaronal is also an attractive area for fishing since it has a great diversity of fish species such as snapper and sea bass.

The campaign has the objective of cleaning the area and offer the different animal species that inhabit the area a better quality of life, specially sea turtles.
