Three modern simulators are now being used by the Costa Rican Firefighters’ Academy to train their personnel.

“The firefighter department has recently acquired three last generation simulators, one that simulates the driving of an emergency vehicle, another that simulates the pumping panel of an extinguishing unit, and a simulator of control and emergency strategy”, explains Ronny La Touche, Director of the Firefighters’ Academy.

The devices are unique in the Central American Region, and in America are only used in Mexico and the United States; they simulate the interior of a firetruck and allow trainees to learn everything they need about how to control the units without endangering their lives or wearing out the units. It also allows for a more efficient and quick training, allowing trainees to practice as many times as needed.

In addition to these three devices, a DRON simulator will allow firefighters to get familiar with these type of device.

“This represents big savings since we are not wasting fuel, more security, since we don’t expose the new firemen or other people to dangers, and is also Eco-friendly since we are not wasting a drop of water. We are sure this project will bring great benefits to the community”, commented Hector Chavez, general director of the Fire Department.
