The Judiciary Investigative Agency (OIJ) raided a house in La Florida, Tibas and a hotel in Sabana Norte, San Jose, and arrested two foreigners and two Costa Ricans suspected of fraud.

Apparently the criminal group, formed by a South African man of last name Jacobs and 48 years-old, a Honduran woman identified with surnames Morales Leiva, age 32; and a Costa Rican couple, the man of last name Poveda Cruz and a woman of surname Rocha Céspedes, would clone credit cards and request cash advances.
According to the Fraud Section of OIJ, the victims were mainly foreigners, Europeans and Asian.

“This group would steal card information, print it here in Costa Rica as false credit cards, they would visit different bank entities and request cash advances”, explained Esteban Obando, Chief of the Fraud Section of OIJ.

In the raids officers found evidence such as blank cards, printed cards, special plastic, printers, among others.

The total stolen was of more than 6 million colones (approximately $10,600.00 USD) the band was operating a short period of time.
