As The Costa Rica Star reported last night, a tragic accident occurred on Route 27 in the area of Alto de Las Palomas (Santa Ana), involving three cars and a motorcycle; two people were declared dead at the scene while a third person passed away in hospital.
The accident happened around 11:20 on Tuesday, July 24th, when the driver of an Audi that was traveling from San Jose to Santa Ana lost control of the car, apparently due to speeding, went over the road divider and into the oncoming lanes of the cars circulating from Santa Ana to San Jose crashing into two other cars and the motorcycle.
The impact was so strong that the engine of one of the car was left in the middle of the road along with other pieces, one of the cars overturned and one of the victims, a man, was found lying on the street.
The two victims that died immediately were men, one of them of last name Muñoz and 24 years-old, the other man’s identity has not been disclosed; while the third victim was a woman, 23 years-of-age, that had to be rescued from one of the vehicles where she was trapped.
A fourth man was taken to the hospital with possible fractures, and one last victim received attention at the scene and did not require hospitalization.
