Authorities Conduct Search at Movistar Offices in Costa Rica

The Fiscal Control Police is conducting a search this Tuesday morning in the main offices of the company Movistar, (Telefónica de Costa Rica) in Escazú as part of an investigation for fiscal fraud.

Apparently the total amount under investigation is of over $2 million USD, the report was filed by Treasury authorities and caused the search of the offices of the company in Escazú, its subsidiary company Tejisa, law firm Zurchher Odio & Raven and the fiscal assessment company KPMG.

¨According to the report, there have been fraudulent actions that have consisted in the creation and establishment of a subsidiar company so that afterwards Telefónica would sell this company the necessary assets with which it carried out its main economic activity¨, explains the press release provided by the district attorney´s office.

During the search, authorities expect to be able to gather sufficient information and evidence to support the case.
