The Costa Rica Drug Control Police seized a package with 1,045 grams of crystal methamphetamine, out of which an approximate 26,125 doses of ecstasy can be produced.

The illegal substance was found in a package sent by DHL under aerial guide number CY68.357.899 7 and the information listed as sender was: Metre Outdoor Sport, Kettengtz. 20b, Germany, 63486, Bzu Khobez. The package was addressed to a Costa Rican man of last name Torres who showed up to retrieve the package and was arrested immediately; Torres had no previous criminal record.

According to the police, each dose of ecstasy is sold for between ten to fifteen thousand colones ($18-$27 approx.) which means the contents of the package could generate approximately $466 thousand to $700 thousand.

Ectasy also known as MDMA (Methylenedioxymethamphetamine) is used as a party or club drug; many times it is mixed with other substances such as LSD, cocaine, heroin, caffeine, among others, making the drug particularly dangerous.

Costa Rican authorities continue to strengthen their controls in their war against drugs. So far this year the police has seized over 29 tons of cocaine.
