While Krysia Peterson might not be from Texas, she has certainly embraced “Everything Western” in her fabulously well stocked new store, Caballo Loco Boutique, in Ciudad Colon.
Hats and more hats are the first items that catch the eye when you enter this cozy and comfortably air conditioned local. To all those that know Krysia, this is hardly a surprise, as they are definitely her number one, favorite accessory!
Horses are everywhere you look, on cotton throws, metal signs, a huge array of home decor items such as, glasses, candle holders, night lights, picture frames, hooks, gift wrap and even greeting cards to send to your horse obsessed friends.
If you’ve ever wondered what gift to buy for kids with a passion for ponies, you are in luck, because, the selection of toys, stuffed animals, collectable hand painted horses, hats, cozy horse motif blankets, dish sets, etc. is almost overwhelming to say the least!
And then there is the jewelry, let’s not forget the jewelry, necklaces with horses, earrings with horses, bracelets with horses, you get the idea! Oh yeah, also, key chains, bolos, t-shirts, charms…
And “why”, do you ask, did Krysia decide to open this store? The answer to this is really quite simple, her retail background as the owner of 11 stores in Canada provided her with the necessary business background, and her devotion to her 16 horses at the nearby farm “Finca Caballo Loco” in El Rodeo, made the location choice simple and the product mix obvious. If anyone knows what horse people want, she certainly has a good feel for this.
Listening to what clients are looking for and usually can’t find in Costa Rica, gives Krysia an advantage when deciding on which new products to buy for the store. Soon to come, are more hats of course, including not only traditional cowboy styles, and elegant western hats for woman but also some Australian leather ones so that everyone can now look the part at the topes (horse parades), even if they’ve never ridden a horse in their life.
For those that do ride, the new washable half-chaps will be a must have addition, as well as the high quality grooming items and basic tack. Future plans include adding some synthetic saddles and bridles to the mix, which are perfect for the Costa Rica climate. All suggestions are welcomed by Adriana who is the store manager and she will make note of your special requests.
