Canadian company Worldwide Charter Group (WWCG) rejected the fraud accusation made by Costa Rican travel agency DestinosTV.

Jose Cortes, General Manager of Destinos TV publicly accused Worldwide Charter Group of fraud in a press conference held on June 19, in reference to over 300 Costa Rican travelers that were stranded in the county after having paid over $10,000 for a complete travel package to Russia to enjoy the World Cup.

A visibly upset Cortes, assured that his agency had been defrauded by the company they hired to provide the charter services (WWCG) and specifically the president and CEO of the same Scott Smith of whom he showed a photo.

DestinosTV finally had to take on additional expenses to be able to accommodate their clients in commercial flights, and reimburse others, situation which has left the company in a tough financial position.

However, WWCG denies this version, spokesman for the company Andres Posada through a press release affirms that WWCG had to cancel the contract with DestinosTV because “they didn’t comply with the agreed payment schedule”.

“This can be easily proved through banking and contract information. Sadly, now DestinosTV intends to evade its responsibility giving incorrect information to his clients and damaging the good name of our company”, states Posada.

Yet, in an interview with daily La Nacion, Cortes reconfirms the accusation and says that “between July 6 and 9, he will be traveling to Miami with his lawyer to file the lawsuit against WWCG, Scott Smith and Smith’s stepson of last name Echeverri, as well as the company FlyGogo Jet represented by Eceverri”.

Cortes assures that DestinosTV was not the only company affected, but also a Mexican travel agency and another travel company in Peru.
