Change in Weekend Vehicular Transit Restrictions in Costa Rica

The government announced this Thursday, October 15 that as of this weekend the vehicular transit restriction will continue only by schedule and not by plate number.

All plates will be allowed to transit on Saturdays and Sundays from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. The measure will go into effect this weekend, October 17.

Authorities had also announced earlier this month an extended schedule to visit beaches, which goes from Monday to Friday from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Casinos and bars are also allowed to operate again attending several sanitary restrictions.

Covid-19 Update:

Costa Rica registered through today 93,152 confirmed cases of Covid-19, out of which 57,731 are already recovered; the country also registers 1,159 deaths related to the virus, 25 new deaths today, among them those of 2 children, ages 9 and 12, both had underlying health conditions that compromised their immune system, one of them was diagnosed with Covid-19 post-mortem, these
are considered deaths “with Covid” and not “due to” Covid-19.

536 people are hospitalized, 206 of them in the intensive care unit.
