The bridge over Drake River is being built through an alliance between the Rural Development Institute (INDER) and the OSA Municipality, and will allow the access to the Osa Peninsula, area that is home to 2.5% of the worlds’ biodiversity.

“Osa Peninsula, with over 50% of Costa Rica’s biodiversity and its point of entry Drake Bay, is one of the most beautiful places in our country, visited by thousands of national and foreign tourists who currently have to get past many obstacles, roads in bad conditions, cross rivers and other communication problems, in order to reach the area”, says the press release.

The bridge will be 45 meters long and will allow free transit to Drake Bay anytime of the year, which also represents an important economic activation in the area through the attraction of national and foreign tourists as well as through the facilitation of transportation of goods and the attention of emergencies.

The project requires a total investment of over $1.2 million and will benefit 1500 people directly and over 5000 people indirectly.

Back in October 2017 another important bridge was inaugurated in the area over the Aguijitas River, with an investment of $562,500.00 and which has benefitted over 1500 people in the nearby communities who usually make a leaving off tourism and have seen a considerable increase in the number of tourists in the area with the consequential economic benefit for the families.
