The Judiciary Investigative Police (OIJ) conducted several operations this morning to take down a Mexican cartel operating in Costa Rica.
The raids took place the morning of this Saturday in three locations in Alajuela (Atenas, Grecia and the center of Alajuela, as well as in Guachipelin, Escazu; as a result, seven people were arrested, six Mexicans and one Guatemalan.
Apparently, the suspects are part of a drug trafficking cell of a Mexican cartel that has been operating in the country for some time.
OIJ worked in conjunction with the Special Service of Tactical Response (SERT in Spanish) and the Special Intervention Unit of the Presidency.
