Costa Rican Coast Guard Service Intercepts Boat Loaded with Cocaine and Marijuana

Once again, coordinated actions of the Costa Rican Coast Guard Service, the United States Coast Guard Service and the Colombian Army in a joint patrolling operation, allowed the interception of boat loaded with drugs by the Limón Coast Guard Station.

The boat under the name “La Bendición” (The Blessing), with no registration plates or flag, was intercepted 27 nautical miles from the coast of Limón, with three people aboard.

The boat was taken to Limón and the case was transferred to the Judiciary Investigative Police (OIJ) to continue with the necessary legal process.

In total 600 packages of cocaine were found on the boat, each weighing 1 kilogram and 28 packages of marijuana with an approximate weight of 500 grams each.

The three crew members arrested are of Colombian nationality and last names Hernández, Avendaño and Marrón.
