The government of Costa Rica does not seem to have much interest in the radio electric spectrum concession which belongs to them. Not only is the state losing money, but opportunities are being lost for society.

Sometime in the not too near future the Costa Rican state will put out to tender a concession for a block of frequencies which was due in 2011.

When? Nobody knows. In an article in Elfinancierocr.com Rowland Espinosa, Deputy Minister of Telecommunications, said: ” Feasibility and occupancy studies are underway for the bands identified as IMT (which support the latest generation of technology such as 4G) giving priority to bands 450 MHz, 700 MHz and 900 MHz the conclusions of these studies will be reported to the Executive, and then they will be able to estimated when they will be ready for”, said the chief, who did not specify when the report will be ready.
