Industrialists say they are at a disadvantage in competing with a country that offers great benefits to its companies, and have made calls to respect most of the sector, which opposes the treaty.

A statement from the Chamber of Industries of Costa Rica (CICR) reads:

Facing the fourth round of negotiations for a trade agreement with Colombia

Industrialists demand respect for exclusions requested by the sector

-Sector considers it is disadvantageous to compete with a country that offers great benefits to producers.
-They are calling for negotiators to respect the positions of the 66% of industrial companies that have spoken out against the treaty.

With a few days to go before the start of the IV Round of Negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement between Costa Rica and Colombia, based in our country, the national industrial sector remains concerned and cautious.

The high cost of energy and fuel, labour, installed capacity and export logistics, coupled with the protectionist measures of the Colombian government, remain major concerns and sensitivities that affect the competitiveness of Costa Rican companies.
