The Costa Rica male national soccer team “La Sele” was drafted in Group E for the Russia World Cup 2018, along with Brazil, Switzerland and Serbia, this last team will be the first rival for the Ticos in a match scheduled for June 17 at 6 a.m. Costa Rica time at the Samara Arena, a stadium with capacity for 44,807 people, this is the first time these teams will face each other.

La Sele will face Brazil in their second game on Friday, June 22 at 6 a.m. and the third confirmed match will be against Switzerland on Wednesday, June 27 at noon.

This is the third world cup in which Costa Rica is drafted in the same group as Brazil.

The World Cup group draw took place this Friday at the State Kremlin Palace, Russia. The 32 teams were separated into 8 groups A-H, this year the difference was that no group could have more than one team from any continental confederation with the exception of UEFA, which could not have more than two in a same group.

When it comes to the other CONCACAF teams, Panama was drawn in Group G, where they will have to open against Belgium and then face Tunisia and England; Mexico doesn’t have it easy either, they will open against the current champion, Germany and then will measure up against South Korea and Sweden.

Russia vs. Saudi Arabia will inaugurate the World Cup on June 14.
