Danny Formal Takes the Costa Rica Touring Car Championship

Danny Formal from the Hyundai Shell Claro team took the top spot at the podium today as the winner of the second edition of the Costa Rica Touring Car Championship (CTCC).

Formal won the two first heats of the sixth and last date of the Hankook Cup which was full of excitement and concluded with strong rainfall that forced the cancellation of the third heat.

21-year-old Formal was one of the favorites to win the event, but had strong competition in the first few dates from José Andrés Montalto (Toyota), Bernal Valverde (Mitsubishi), Andrés Saravia (Chevrolet), André Solano (Chevrolet), and Juan Carlos Alvarado (Suzuki).

In this date, Bernal Valverde took second place and André Solano third position.

Montalto who was leading the CTCC general ranking through date 4, had a mechanical problem in the first lap and came in fourth, while in the second heat he finished last after having a minor accident with Juan Carlos Alvarado.

The general ranking concluded with Formal at the top with 367 points, followed by Montalto with 278, André Solano 243, Andrés Saravia 232, Juan Carlos Alvarado who was the defending champion dropped to position five with 213 points and Bernal Valverde sixth with 199.
