Officials of the Drug Control Police (PCD) of the Ministry of Public Security detained a foreigner in the Juan Santamaria Airport as he attempted to leave the country carrying drugs intracorporeally.
The man, of Italian nationality, appeared nervous, behaviour which alerted the officers who intercepted the man and discovered he was carrying drugs in his body.
The 43-year-old foreigner identified with the last name Biadene, was taken to a hospital to safely extract the drug. In total, he was carrying 197 cocaine ovules. Biadene had intentions to board a plane to Frankfurt, Germany.
Biadene was arrested and he could face a sentence of between 8 to 20 years in prison according to what is established in Law 8204 (Law on Narcotics).
Back in May another Italian citizen was arrested in the Juan Santamaria Airport found to be carrying 64 cocaine ovules in his body.
