The third edition this year of the Art City Tour is scheduled to take place May 15, “Chepe de Moda” (“Chepe in Style”, Chepe being the way Costa Ricans’ refer to the capital city of San Jose)w will connect once again activities in different museums, galleries, cultural centers, historical buildings and open spaces in downtown San Jose, including the neighborhoods, Amón, Otoya, Escalante and Sabana.

Art City Tours are free cultural events that take the public in night tours to different emblematic places of San Jose, with the objective not only of promoting the visitation of the capital city but also with the purpose of rescuing the art and culture that hides within it. Tours can be done by bus, bicycle or foot. These events have been taking place since February 2010 and have had 56 editions and more than 108,505 people have enjoyed the experience of rediscovering public spaces in San Jose.

The tour will begin at 5 p.m. and conclude at 9 p.m. it includes different routes that cover 21 spaces in total. For those that choose to do the tour on bike, it will kick off at 7 p.m. from Parque España, the tour is organized by Chepecletas, Pedalízate, KickBike, Las Luciérnagas, Desampa Cletea and Chicas en Cleta, it does not require reservation.

For those that prefer to take the bus, the tours begin at 5:30 p.m. buses leave from different points depending on the route chosen, the last bus will leave at 8:45 p.m.; this option requires reservation.

Finally, the tour by foot also requires reservation, there are 5 different routes, the Huawei P30 Pro is already completely booked, the Historic San Jose route still has available spots, the Los Yoses: History of a modern neighborhood, also has available spots, reservations can be made by email to [email protected]; the Sketch Walk is the third route offered and does not require prior registration; finally, the fifth route: Mixology, craft beer and history, starts at 6 p.m. and offers limited registrations to [email protected].

The next edition of the Art City Tour will take place July 10 and its entitled “Vacations in Chepe” .
