The Fiscal Control Police of the Ministry of Treasury conducted a search this Saturday in a storage in San Ramon, Alajuela where they found a large quantity of smuggled products.

According to Irving Malespin, director of the Fiscal Control Police, explained that the operation was executed successfully thanks to the actions in conjunction with the Customs office of Peñas Blancas, location through which the merchandise entered.

“Since Friday we began following a transport unit that entered the country from Nicaragua, it was in the evening hours that we located the warehouse”, commented Malespin.

“On Saturday morning personnel from the Fiscal Police in San Ramon in Alajuela arrived at the warehouse and discovered a large quantity of smuggled products such as tooth pastes, gum, soups, deodorants, cosmetics, medicines, among others”, concluded Malespin.

The work of the Fiscal Control Police will continue as part of the actions the government announced to control tax evasion.

The Government announced that in the first 24 hours after giving information on the resources available to report tax evasion, the number of reports reached 353 while in the past they received in average 200 reports in a month.
