The Massachusetts-based global digital, social, and mobile content company, Lionbridge, is opening 100 new positions in Costa Rica, a 200 percent increase in their staff here.
Their new positions are in the areas of translation and localization due to a recent increase in the volume of their telephone interpretation services.
Lionbridge has operations in 28 countries with a global staff of over 100,000.
Minister of Foreign Trade, Alexander Mora, said: “The expansion of existing operations in the country, like that announced today by Lionbridge, is becoming a strong tendency resulting from our efforts to attract investment…there is confidence to reinvest, and the conditions exist to firmly establish business and to create quality, formal employment opportunities.”
“We are proud to be able to offer staff greater flexibility to create their own individual work schedule, while we provide access to training materials, glossaries and classes that help them develop additional skills,” stated Eric Munz, Lionbridge global vice-president.
Lionbridge is seeking fully bilingual (English-Spanish) candidates, who are available at least 16 hours per week, and have a landline or other stable (non-cellular) telephone line. New staff will be able to work from home and have a flexible weekday schedule.
