The Costa Rican chapter of the Ronald McDonald House Charities is proud to announce the 14^th edition of its classic Charitable Golf Tournament. This event has become the main fund raiser to cover the costs of operating and maintaining the Ronald McDonald House in Costa Rica, which opened in 2012.

The stroke-play, 18-hole tournament will take place at La Iguana golf course at the Marriott Los Suenos near Jaco Beach. Players can choose from three skill level categories with handicaps ranging between zero and 80 percent. The tournament is scheduled to begin at 6:30 am on Saturday, March 15^th. The Ronald McDonald Children’s Foundation opened the first Ronald McDonald House in Costa Rica on March 5^th, 2012 thanks to the efforts and donations of various individuals, businesses and organizations. Located near the National Children’s Hospital in San Jose, the Ronald McDonald House welcomes children from the provinces and remote areas who come to receive treatment.

In Costa Rica, 30 percent of children treated at the fine National Children’s Hospital in San Jose live more than 80 kilometers away from the facility. This distance places an undue burden on families who must travel from afar and seek affordable overnight accommodations, which often means staying at seedy motels.

Children and their families can stay in one of 14 safe and comfortable bedrooms. Ronald McDonald House staff work closely with social workers at the Children’s Hospital to report vacancies and to make special arrangements for patients or relatives with disabilities.
