The National Emergency Commission (CNE) declared yellow alert for the county of Limon and green alert for the rest of the territory except for the North Pacific, this since the country is under the influence of a low-pressure system and a new tropical wave.

Tropical wave number 26 will bring strong rainfall and instability in most of the territory.

The North and South Caribbean as well as Cartago can experience thunderstorm, rainfall and cloudy conditions. The Pacific will have mild rainfall; while the Central Valley will have moderated rains, mild winds and partially cloudy conditions.

The green alert involves activating information and communication protocol for the general population, particularly those in areas of high risk, and monitoring of the phenomenon; yellow alert is declared to inform and activate all emergency protocols through the different committees, prepare temporary shelters, supplies, and move personnel to the areas according to the needs.

Several communities in the Caribbean and in the North Zone of the country have suffered the effects of the rainy season already this year with floods and mudslides.

Route 32 which connects Limon and San Jose, was closed last night as a precaution and the National Roads Authority (CONAVI) has informed this preventive measure may be implemented again today if the conditions require it.
