Just as soon as you’d think the midterm election couldn’t get more controversial – wham – ending birthright citizenship gets thrown on the table with a loud echoing thud. This debate over birthright citizenship goes right to the heart of the immigration problems now being encountered at the southern border of USA and Mexico.

In an absolute classic — President Donald Trump move – he’s taking aim at the deep-long-standing root causes of the immigration problems directly related to the ongoing ‘caravans’ of Central Americans headed to the border seeking asylum.

President Trump is not singing and dancing around the Constitutionally-based problem. He’s attempting to fix the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution — dating back to 1866 — and doing nothing to solve the problem is not his way of getting things done. He was mistaken when he said recently that the USA was the only country to give birthright citizenship. About 30 countries worldwide offer birthright citizenship to babies born in their countries, but so what? Trump was not hired to be a world historian.

“So-called Birthright Citizenship, which costs our Country billions of dollars and is very unfair to our citizens, will be ended one way or the other. It is not covered by the 14th Amendment because of the words ‘subject to the jurisdiction thereof.’ Many legal scholars agree…” Trump tweeted on Wednesday.

In a follow-up tweet, Trump cited 1993 news footage of Democratic stalwart former U.S. Sen. Harry Reid (NV) in which he said “no sane country” would allow birthright citizenship. Trump also said he would be issuing an executive order further clarifying the 14th Amendment to specifically deny citizenship to babies born to illegal immigrants on United States soil. Trump’s executive order will be immediately challenged and heard in the U.S. Supreme Court.

President Trump’s announcement to challenge birthright citizenship took everyone by surprise. Just as soon as the eye-popping moment came as ‘breaking news’ from mainstream media the arguing began. Trump is a master of changing the subject and mainstream media laps it up like a bunch of little puppy dogs.

The national midterm election is now only days away. The polls show close races everywhere you look. Depending on individual state’s election laws there are sure to be recounts and runoff elections with razor-thin victories followed by legal challenges. There are also certain to be allegations of voter fraud, irregularities and dirty tricks that may spur new investigations and cause delays.

Don’t think for a moment that the midterm elections will be settled the night of Nov. 6. We may not know the final outcome for days or weeks. On election night we may not know which political party will control the U.S. House of Representatives or the U.S. Senate. Then again if America goes solidly red it’s all over but the crying for the Democrats who having been whining and weeping ever since 2016, but the same thing goes for a blue wave.

Past performance of midterm elections are no guarantee of future results as reflected in current conflicting political polls — not in this unprecedented era of President Trump — who has defied all the threats against him as he pushes and shoves the Democrats to the back of the room and out of his way.

Come on brothers in Red. Let’s take it to the voting booth and kiss these illegals goodbye.
