The bridge over the Blanco river in Guayabo of Bagaces, Guanacaste was swept away by hurricane Otto back in Novemeber.
For several days using this route was impossible, since the old structure was left in pieces over the riverbed, between trees, mud and rocks.

But the situation didn’t last long. Workers of the Costa Rican Institute of Electricity (ICE) took care of building a new bridge which is already being used.

According to the information provided by ICE, it took workers three weeks to rebuild the bridge of 13 meters in length and 3.83 meters wide.

The reconstruction work was done in coordination with the National Emergency Commission (CNE), that destined the necessary resources to the attention of this extremely urgent bridge.

The old Blanco river bridge had no pedestrian crossing but the same was built in this new infrastructure.

The Miravalles geothermal plant is located in this affected area, which is why ICE has been collaborating actively and supporting community construction work. For instance, the bridge that communicates La Fortuna and Cuipilapa in Bagaces, Guaacaste, was also destroyed by Otto, however, a quick intervention by ICE allowed the enabling of a provisional path very close to the structure, reestablishing the connection between both communities.
