Mexico City, Oct 29 (EFE).– Wendolly Esparza, winner of the beauty contest title Nuestra Belleza Mexico in 2014, says she has “prepared arduously” to win the 2015 Miss Universe Pageant, a contest in which she is eager to compete now that Mexico is back in it following real estate magnate Donald Trump’s departure from the show.

“I have prepared arduously for this crown and that’s why I’m so proud to tell you that Mexico is returning to Miss Universe. I’ll give it everything I’ve got,” the beauty queen from the central Mexican state of Aguascalientes said in a video message.

The news in June was that Mexico would not compete in Miss Universe 2015 because of the racist slurs of the event’s owner, Donald Trump, who is seeking the Republican nomination for next year’s U.S. presidential election and who touts the idea of building a great wall between the U.S. and Mexico to halt illegal immigration.

“In the last few months there were a lot of remarks about our country that were so against my ideals and those of all the people who struggle every day looking for a better life,” the beauty queen said.

However, the organization said that after Trump sold the Miss Universe Pageant to the WME/IMG talent agency, the decision was made by the Televisa Group and the Nuestra Belleza Mexico organization to return to the competition.

The organization said that Esparza continues “with her preparations for an excellent performance” in the international contest.

“Now that the situation has changed, it makes sense to stay in the battle and show the nobility and courage that identifies us,” the young woman said.

Once the news was out, Wendolly Esparza’s social network pages were packed with postings cheering her on to win the crown.

The 2015 Miss Universe ceremony will be staged Dec. 20 at the Axis Theater of the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. EFE
