Beach house in Costa Rica
By Carolina Ruiz Vega
Everyone has a favorite color… but do you know what influence does it paint on your mood?
Colors evoke feelings and emotions directly related to human perception. For this reason, you should think about the mood that certain tones may impose on your psyche before changing the color of your room.
Studies such conducted by Creighton University have analyzed how different colors affect moods and productivity in diverse ways. Specialists recommend choosing wisely the right color when painting each room because that decision will influence the people meet, work, rest or live within that space.
“According to their intensity, warmth or coolness, each color can provoke different emotions,” explains Alejandro García del Río, Color Manager at Comex, considers that colors store within themselves emotions that are directly related to human perceptions. Comex is a major brand of paint from Mexico, and their products can be widely found in Costa Rica.
Colors are representative of culture; for example, rural homes in Costa Rica are often painted with red, white and blue sections that match the colors of our flag and reflect national pride. Colors may even have a particular meaning for each person, depending on the good or bad memories that the specific color evokes in them, as consequence of that person’s experiences.
Color specialists and mental health professionals have discovered alternative natural health techniques such as chromotherapy, knowing that colors may not only cause different emotional reactions, but also improve mood and inner well-being.
Hence, specialists such as García del Río recommend that, before choosing a color for a particular room, its future occupants know the emotions that tone will evoke in them. Here are some suggestions for when you plan to paint your room in Jaco Beach:
