Costa Rican police dismantled 115 narco structures between January 1 and Dec. 14 this year, reported the Ministry of Public Safety, 37 of which were international and 78 local.
Police also upped their cocaine captures from 14.5 tons last year to over 18 tons this year, along with sizeable quantities of other illlegal drugs, said the ministry.
Increased amounts of ecstasy, LSD, heroin and crack, plus cash (colones, dollars and euros), firearms, and vehicles that belonged to people engaged in drug trafficking were also seized by police.
Public safety officials aim to take back neighborhoods, parks, and schools and other public spaces to make them safe again for local residents, said the ministry.
