Holy Week Surf Competition Takes to Dominical Beach in Costa Rica This Weekend

If you are vacationing in the Central or South Pacific of Costa Rica this Holy Week and you enjoy surfing, head to Dominical on Friday and Saturday to witness the seventh edition of the Dominical Holy Week Classic.

The surf event will take place in front of the Costa Rica Surf Camp in Dominical Beach, and will involve five different categories Open Male, Open Female, Junior Male, Local, and Mini-Groms (U12).

Justin Hague, organizer of the event, confirmed that there are cash prizes for the winners as well as sponsor’s products; this event is known for presenting great surfing conditions for the participants, the swell should allow for an excellent spectacle for the attending public.

The competition will kick off Friday at 9 a.m. and will continue until 5 p.m. while on Saturday the schedule goes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Registration has a cost of 15,000 colones (approximately $27.00) for the open categories and 8,000 colones (approximately $14.00) for the rest of the categories. For additional information call: 8312-7677.

These type of events open the doors to new talent in the country. Currently, some of Costa Rica’s highly ranked representatives such as Leilani McGonagle, Tomas King, Carlos Muñoz and Noe Mar McGonagle are participating in the WQS World Surf League stop in Drill Hall Beach, St. Michael, Barbados.
