On Monday, June 18, truckers will take some of the main roads such as Route 27 (Caldera-San Jose), the General Cañas highway (Alajuela-San Jose) and Route 32 (Limon-San Jose, to protest against a number of situations they consider affect their jobs.

The slow moving protest convoy of trailer trucks will begin at 6 a.m. leaving from several points: one group from the Coyolar-Orotina toll booth towards El Coyol in Alajuela, at this point they will break into two groups, one will continue its transit through Route 27 to San Jose, and others will take the Alajuela highway; another group will leave from Guapiles taking Route 32 towards San Jose, and a third group will concentrate in Limon near the Moin port.

Truckers will deliver a list of demands to the Government, that includes the reduction in fuel prices, the reduction of toll rates in Route 27, and better controls to be able to compete with Central American truckers who they consider represent unfair competition since they come with their cargo to the country and then stay working for very low rates.

According to the group, they have had these problems for many years and they have not received a response from former governments, which is why they hope to get the attention of current President Carlos Alvarado.
