Good job Virginia! You can’t make this stuff up. All of a sudden the state’s three top elected officials are knee deep in the alligator pit with all eyes watching as swampy Democrats try to devour each other with fake hate.
First came the outrage from the comments Gov. Rob Northum made about his support of late-term abortions. Many called for him to resign. He refused. Then came his 1985 medical school yearbook page — showing him or someone else in blackface makeup alongside someone wearing a white KKK outfit with a conehead. First Northum apologized for the photo in what came across as an admission of guilt, and then he soon backtracked saying he was not in either photo and a mistake had been made decades ago. As of Feb. 8 — he still refuses to resign as the calls for his resignation build and get uglier.
Second came Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax when all of sudden a woman jumped up from his past — going back to 2004 when he was 25 – and accuses Fairfax of sexual assault during the 2004 Democratic Convention held in Boston. The woman involved has come forward to publicly give her account and mainstream media cannot get enough of this mess in Virginia politics. According to her, Fairfax — in a hotel room — came onto her with unwanted advances, unzipped his pants demanding oral sex.
According to news reports, this woman did not file a police report nor did she report it to convention officials or hotel management. She did nothing. If this really happened she did not stand up for herself. So why get all excited now and not 15-years ago? This case has gold digger written all over it.
This woman has hired legal representation by the same attorney that represented California resident Christine Ford about her decades old sexual accusations made last year against federal judge Brett Cavanaugh to sit on the U.S. Supreme Court. Ford made similar accusations as in the Fairfax case, but there was no real evidence and Kavanaugh was confirmed a U.S. Justice on the Supreme Court after a nasty partisan fight witnessed nationwide blow-by-blow. Here we go again with another installment of the long-running “MeToo” soap opera.
Fairfax claims their hotel room encounter was consensual and he denied any sort of sexual assault took place. So it comes down to she said, he said while his reputation and political career goes up in smoke over nothing but media smears and unfounded accusations. She said, he said – is now a weapon for extortion and political upheaval.
Third came Virginia Attorney General Hemming who openly and jokingly admitted he once wore blackface makeup to a college party when he was 19-years-old back in 1980. This guy should have kept his mouth shut because now he is too on the hit list for resignation over something as plain-old, head-banging stupid as this.
Here’s a little something to consider. Remember back a few years when Royal Prince Harry was photographed at a college party wearing a full-throttle German Nazi uniform complete with red armbands and Swastikas. The English press went wild over the photos as did mainstream media in the USA – another Royal scandal – but this Royal kid did not resign. It all blew over. Life goes on.
So who should resign and who should stay?
Virginia Gov. Northum should resign for two reasons, first his continuing support of late-term abortion after the Virginia legislature had the foresight to give it thumbs down. Second — his waffling, changing stories, backtracking, looking for any wiggle room all over an old photo. Say goodbuy Northum. Your credibility is shot. This scenario is not fitting for a sitting governor to remain in office.
Virginia Lt. Gov. Fairfax probably should resign because to fight these ‘no-proof’ accusations would take a long time at great expense and for what? The crazy liberals are gearing up to publicly assassinate a good public servant. There really is no reason not to like this guy. This man can get another job. He should hold his head up high, resign with honor and respect, and seek solace with his family and faith. He should refuse to cooperate with these gold-digger lawyers and tell them so. Walk away. He would be the bigger person. Life goes on but not with this albatross around his neck. Say goodbye Mr. Fairfax in full faith the Lord has a further plan for you.
Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring should stay. He is a good man, a great public servant in a world of fake hate and confusion. He is stable and a leader among men. Let’s hope Northum and Fairfax bow out gracefully for the good of Virginia. As 2nd in line for the governorship, let Herring assume the office according to the Virginia Constitution. But beware, the real quandary here is that 3rd in succession is Speaker of the House Kirk Cox, who is a Republican. Should Northum, Fairfax and Hemming resign – the Democrats will lose control of the Virginia governorship. Cox would appoint fellow Republicans for Lt. Governor and Attorney General.
If these three things happen the situation in Virginia politics will disappear from the national scene as fast as a dead news story.
Looking from the White House — across the Potomac River toward Virginia — President Donald Trump is maybe thinkin’ “Thanks Virginia.”
