Just one month ago Volaris Airlines inaugurated its route Costa Rica to Los Angeles, California; and today, April 18 it began operating the new San Jose, Costa Rica to New York, NY, USA route via El Salvador.

This new route has a two-day frequency, Tuesdays and Fridays from San Jose and Wednesdays and Saturdays from New York. The flight makes a stop in El Salvador.

Back in September 2018, Volaris had received a temporary authorization to operate in airports in the United States by the US’ Department of Transportation.

The low-cost airline had announced the opening of three routes connecting Central America to the United States, flying to Los Angeles, CA; New York and Washington, DC which they hope to open in the month of May.

Volaris aims to maintain low prices; as it happens with most low-cost airlines the basic ticket can be as cheap as $300.00 round trip but the price increases when travelers choose specific seats, require additional luggage, meals, etc.

“We know that millions of Central Americans live in the East Coast of the United States, and for this reason we want to be the best option for families to fly with us”, commented Fernando Naranjo, general manager of Volaris Costa Rica.

Flights leave Tuesdays and Fridays at 1:30 p.m. from the Juan Santamaria International Airport in Costa Rica and arrive at 11:49 p.m. to New York. While from New York, flights are scheduled to leave on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 1:37 a.m. and arrive in Costa Rica at 11 a.m.

Tickets can be purchased online through www.volaris.com for $150.00 one-way (taxes included).

Volaris currently connects Costa Rica to Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Los Angeles and New York.
