Walls are crumbling around the Washington Democrats as the heat of the flames begins to scorch their protected heroes. Fires of revenge are indeed burning within the halls of the U.S. Congress, the White House, the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. There is a big dose of reality coming soon live on national TV and smartphones around the world as the Democrats disintegrate.
Some political observers are saying that the unraveling of the original sources of — Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Trump Campaign/Russia collusion investigation – will become the worst political scandal by far in the history of the United States of America. This time around it’s the Democrats sailing on the U.S.S. Sea of Misery.
Last time a political scandal of this magnitude came around it was the Republicans on fire. After winning a second term former President Richard M. Nixon was forced to resign the presidency in August 1974. He faced certain impeachment and removal from office for his involvement in the now famous Watergate Scandal. All his lies, deceptions and smoky mirrors caught up with ‘Tricky Dick’ and he respectfully waved goodbye to Washington to live out his years at home in California.
Then in the 90s former President Bill Clinton (D) was impeached in the U.S. House of Representatives for lying about his sexual dallying with a young female intern inside the White House. Clinton’s impeachment was not upheld in the U.S. Senate. He chose not to resign and he served two terms. His political troubles do not rise to the level of Nixon being the only president in U.S. history to resign the presidency. Clinton was stupid and served in disgrace; Nixon was wrong and got what he deserved.
Last week saw U.S. Attorney General William Barr testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee answering questions under oath about the recently released Mueller Report – 400-plus pages about what happened during presidential Campaign 2016. The report concluded that no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian entities occurred. Mueller left the decision of — possible obstruction of justice in the firing of former FBI Director James Comey – to Barr who concluded that no obstruction of justice had occurred.
Then Barr refused to attend the next day scheduled meeting of the House Judiciary Committee chaired by hostile Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) who had changed the rules to allow committee lawyers to ask questions of Barr alongside committee members. Barr rightly refused and this little sideshow drama has yet to play out.
But what is playing out is Campaign 2020 and the national election set for Nov. 3 – only 18-months away – plenty of time for the impending implosion of former ‘deep state’ U.S. Federal Government officials.
In his questioning before the Senate, Barr clearly stated he was looking into all the factors leading up to the appointment of Mueller and what started that investigation that we now know was based upon fake, contrived information spread as fact by these ‘deep state’ employees that were dead set to keep Trump from winning and then removing him from office by any means possible – all of which failed miserably.
Now the Democrats are going after Barr saying he lied to congress last week and they are calling for his resignation. Just think — for political junkies the next 18-months will be savored like a fine wine.
